Baños Morales, en busca de un renacer : evaluación del potencial turístico de baños morales reconociendo su patrimonio natural y cultural para enriquecer la experiencia del visitante

Abstract

La presente investigación se desarrolla en la localidad de Villa Baños Morales, ubicada en uno de los últimos poblados del Cajón del Maipo, Región Metropolitana. La razón principal por la cual se investiga este territorio tiene relación con una problemática detectada, traducida en comprender cuál es el estado actual de la actividad turística en el lugar junto con la valoración patrimonial natural y cultural. Se realizó una solicitud formal por parte de la Cámara de Turismo de San José, donde se expresó un desconocimiento respecto al progreso y desarrollo óptimo del turismo influyendo directamente a la comunidad afectada, en especial aquellas personas que ofrecen servicios y actividades turísticas en la zona. En consecuencia, se realizó un levantamiento de información sobre las posibles causas que determinan y condicionan el progreso del turismo en el territorio. Así mismo, se destacan los principales atractivos turísticos, con el objetivo de identificar cual es el valor y aprecio que se promueve respecto al patrimonio natural y cultural histórico que identifica a la localidad de Baños Morales. Siendo un ambiente característico de actividades de montaña y famoso por sus piscinas de barro medicinales. Es un territorio con oportunidades para promover un turismo sostenible con la posibilidad de ser visitado durante todo el año. Por otro lado, cabe mencionar que en la salida de campo se levantó información sobre el estado actual del turismo en el territorio. Dicho trabajo en terreno permitió recaudar la información necesaria para comprender el origen de la problemática, con el fin de rescatar los diversos elementos del patrimonio local, en que se plantea una propuesta de mitigación de este estancamiento mediante un diagnóstico informativo de lo que existe en la localidad. Esto es traducido en una Guía Patrimonial Turística de Baños Morales, que describe y muestra el valor del patrimonio cultural y natural de la zona, a partir de sus elementos naturales, principales atractivos turísticos, especies de flora y fauna, comercios locales de la villa, tipos de alojamientos, y un mapa general. También cuenta con una sección de buenas prácticas turísticas, ya que uno de los principales objetivos xii de este proyecto es promover un turismo sustentable, responsable y consciente en la localidad.

The following research develops in the local community of Baños Morales Villa, in Cajón del Maipo, Metropolitan Region. The main reason why this area is chosen for the investigation has to do with a specific problem regarding the current situation that describes the tourism activity in the location and its relationship with the smaller local tourism development and the value given to its nature and cultural heritage. This general topic of the research is presented initially as a formal request on behalf of the tourism organization in San José, and the local community, due to a lack of knowledge regarding the progress and optimal tourism development that impacts directly on the community, more specifically, on the people that offer different local services and tourism activities. Consequently, as a group we were inclined to gather and analyze information about the possible causes that determine the slow progression of tourism in the territory. That is why it was very important to know which tourist attractions exist, as well as their classification. At the same time, identify the level of valorization that is being promoted regarding the nature and cultural heritage that helps built the identity of the community and Baños Morales itself. This place is known for its mountains and different outdoor activities related to this type of landscape. It is one of the main reasons that motivate tourists to visit Baños Morales, allowing them to practice sports such as trekking, climbing, skiing, among others, as well as a resting place. As a result, Baños Morales is a territory that offers a lot of opportunities that can be promoted in a sustainable way and visited year-round. On the other hand, the investigation process involved four different surveys that were designed and worked during the expedition, along with interviews applied to key members of the community, essential in understanding the current state of the tourism reality in the territory. This fieldwork allowed us to collect the specific information that was necessary to understand the origins of the problem. The data was classified with the purpose of rescuing the different elements of the local heritage which then allowed to design a proposal of mitigation related to the tourism standstill in the area through a diagnosis of xiv the elements that exist, about tourism and the local environment. This information is presented in a touristic heritage guide that will also include the main touristic attractions, species of flora and fauna, commercial premises, types of accommodation, a general map of Baños Morales, and a section with suggestions of proper touristic conducts, since the main objective of this project is to promote a sustainable, responsible and good manner behavior in tourism.
